The Centre for Reading and Language (CRL) is based at the Department of Psychology at the University of York.
The CRL unites basic theoretical research into the mechanisms of reading
and language development with applied studies of reading and language
disorders. The Centre aims to conduct high-quality research into the
nature and causes of reading and language difficulties and to translate
research findings into practical solutions for educational problems.
This combination of rigorous basic and applied research provided the ideal environment for the development of YARC Early Reading and Passage Reading.
