Helena is a quiet girl who appears to have some learning difficulties. Her teacher used YARC Letter Sound Knowledge (core) to monitor the progress of children in her class. Helena gained a low standard score of 75 which gave cause for concern. She went on to administer the other subtests to Helena. Helena attained the following standard scores:

Sound Deletion: < 70
Sound Isolation: < 70
Helena is having difficulty with all aspects of reading development. She is in urgent need of extra support with her reading. She requires a comprehensive educational assessment to plan future management.
